Appleby Horse Fair has come and gone, I started taking photographs of the fair in 2004 and have
just posted a new PDF book of 116 photographs from Appleby. This is one of the great British
traditions dating back to before 1750 when the fair was moved out of town to the new fair site.
Since then it has missed only 2 years, the last during the foot and mouth crisis in 2001. the
Fair is gaining in popularity and the number of traditional Bowtop Wagons has increased every year
with the best of them worth as much as a hundred thousand pounds.
There are some great characters that come back year after year, over the years I have managed
to photograph some of them.
The book can be downloaded for free from my website.
